this basis an analytical framework of“infrastructure-social space-urban-rural integration”is constructed. Ur-

ban-rural integration is not only the outcome of institutional reform resource flows and population mobility but

also a process in which urban and rural social spaces are continuously restructured and reproduced through the

ongoing extension embedding and operation of infrastructure. Infrastructure functions through three dimen-

sions material institutional and relational. It improves transportation living facilities and information access

and promotes the overlap between urban and rural living worlds. By advancing the decentralization of digital

government affairs public service facilities and grassroots governance networks it facilitates the extension of

governance resources to the grassroots level. Through facilitating organizational mobility sustaining local pres-

ence and providing support it reshapes urban -rural social connections. Meanwhile infrastructure embodies a

duality of integration and differentiation. Accordingly urban -rural integration should not remain confined to

formal“connection” but advance toward a more equitable and inclusive reconstruction of social space.

How does the construction of the social credit system enhance China’s export technology complexity

—Empirical evidence from the national credit city pilot program

Lu Huizhi Zheng Wanteng Yin Tianbao 95

Strengthening the construction of the social credit system is not only an intrinsic requirement for improving the

credit system of the market economy but also a solid foundation for building the“dual circulation”development

pattern. It plays a critical strategic role in enhancing China’s export technology complexity. Based on panel da-

ta from 282 Chinese cities between 2011 and 2022 and using the national credit city pilot program as a quasi-

natural experiment this study employs a difference - in - differences DID model to evaluate the impact of

social credit system construction on export technology complexity. The results show that the construction of the

social credit system significantly promotes the complexity of city exports. Heterogeneity analysis reveals that this

effect is more pronounced in non-resource-based cities cities with higher administrative levels and cities with

better economic foundations. Mechanism analysis indicates that the construction of the social credit system en-

hances export technology complexity through attracting foreign investment accumulating human capital and en-

hancing market competition. Further analysis finds that there is a significant synergistic effect between the con-

struction of the social credit system and intellectual property protection policies jointly promoting the

improvement of export technology complexity. However the synergistic effects with digital infrastructure and

free trade zone policies are not yet significant.

How is a psychoanalysis of recognition theory possible

—On the debate between Honneth and Whitebook

Chen Liangbin 138

Focusing on the psychological motivations of inter -subjective recognition Axel Honneth and Joel Whitebook

have engaged in ongoing debates regarding the origins functions and methodologies of recognition. Regarding

the origin of recognition Honneth adheres to the integration theory arguing that the primitive form of recogni-

tion demonstrates that the self possesses social characteristics from infancy onward. By contrast Whitebook

endorses the omnipotence theory maintaining that recognition results from the operation of omnipotence and is

shaped by an individual’s early monological psychological experiences. In terms of the functions of recogni-

tion Honneth advocates achieving social integration through the recognition desire while Whitebook believes

that the inherent negative tendency of humans is the driving force behind social order transformation. In terms

of the methodology of recognition Honneth believes that psychoanalytic methods only play an auxiliary role in

recognition theory whereas Whitebook seeks to promote psychoanalytic methods into the core of critical theory.

Overall the debate between them has effectively advanced the feasibility of integrating critical theory and

psychoanalysis. Nevertheless both sides overemphasize the psychological motives underlying the issue of recog-

nition reducing individual behaviors and social conflicts to external manifestations of the unconscious. Conse-

quently they fail to truly grasp the fundamental contradictions of capitalist society and unleash the emancipatory

potential of critical theory.

Clear governance in both capital and peripheral regions Political identity of the southern states under

the Western Zhou Dynasty’s governance

Zhao Yanjiao 166

The Western Zhou Dynasty’s governance of the southern regions was not aimed at alleviating the conflict

between population growth and resource shortages. Before the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods

the central plains remained sparsely populated with no acute land-population tension. Moreover the Western

Zhou rulers consistently pursued a policy of pacification and assimilation toward ethnic minorities devoid of

genocidal warfare. The dynasty’s persistent governance of the south was solely to secure political recognition

from southern states maintain the functioning of the designated service system and ensure“hierarchical order”

so as to uphold “clear governance in both capital and peripheral regions.”
