Smart Sensors, Small Budgets: Exploring Low-Cost GNSS

and Smartphone Fusion for Monitoring Environments,

Structures, and People

摘要

This talk explores how low-cost devices, particularly smartphones equipped with

GNSS and inertial sensors, can be used across a range of monitoring applications,

including structural health monitoring, ground motion and tropospheric sensing,

indoor positioning, and human activity analysis. While individual sensors have

inherent limitations, their performance can be significantly enhanced through

improved algorithms, sensor fusion, and the use of AI.

The presentation highlights methods for extracting high-quality observations from

raw data and integrating multiple sensing technologies to improve accuracy and

reliability. Overall, it demonstrates how affordable, widely available devices can

support next-generation monitoring solutions, while outlining key challenges and

future research directions.
